Sex chat kinect
Microsoft has more than 10 years of experience making privacy a top priority.
Kinect for Xbox 360 was designed and built with strong privacy protections in place and the new Kinect will continue this commitment.
The Wii is designed to prevent this, as their network doesn't support direct chat. XBOX is due for a refresh in the next year or so, same for PS3.
The Kinect has a lot of potential, and there are few cool kids games out there (the Nat Geo TV meets gaming episodes on Animals seem cool, and kid friendly) - there are not that many quality titles directed at young kids. So, you get a Wii now, and it's the latest greatest and is age appropriate, and around the next cycle, you can move your teenage-ish kids over to the XBOX.
This is partially a policy decision by Microsoft, which will get to decide whether to require persistent Kinect-based facial recognition to log a player in or, a la Xbox 360, will settle for button prompts.
That's something Microsoft was showing off last week as an asset. There is little blood, no sex, it's Mario and Zelda, not mass murder, zombies, and sniper rifles. There are very few in-room multilayer games for XBOX."We are designing the new Kinect with simple, easy methods to customise privacy settings, provide clear notifications and meaningful privacy choices for how data will be used, stored and shared," the Microsoft rep told me."We know our customers want and expect strong privacy protections to be built into our products, devices and services, and for companies to be responsible stewards of their data.
